Obstetric manikin, help for birth, midwife, obstetrics

This modular training doll is the universal training tool for obstetrics. Developed in collaboration with midwives, it offers a comprehensive range of training options. Interchangeable modules allow training in Leopold manoeuvres, breast care, vaginal examination of the birth progress, various birth positions, birth simulation, episiotomy and examination of the puerpera. The model has a heart sound simulation for listening to the heart tone. The doll feels realistic and behaves realistically during the exercise due to the use of a special plastic. During the development, special emphasis was placed on the presentation of important training details. For example, the vulva not only has a prefabricated opening, but also stretches like a real vulva during birth. As a full body doll, this model has the advantage over normal simulators that the complete situation can be simulated, i.e. that obstetrics can be practiced in the actual birth position.

The modules supplied are as follows:

Pregnancy module

This module contains an amniotic sac with foetus (36th to 40th week of pregnancy), a heartbeat simulation and an abdominal wall with breasts. The module is suitable for practising Leopold's manoeuvres, for practising palpation and for checking the heartbeat. The instructor can adjust the heart rhythm and volume. The amniotic sac can be inserted in different ways to simulate different presentations. In addition, the model offers the opportunity to teach breast care and breastfeeding.

Birth Stages Module

The birth stages module can be used to perform the Bishop score. Three different stages of the cervix and a foetal head can be inserted. The foetal head can be inserted in different positions, cranial sutures and fontanelles can be felt. All inserts can be rotated and their depth can be adjusted.

Obstetrics module

This module can be used to practise births in all common birthing positions. The model is ideal for simulating a complete situation. The highly flexible vulva, made of a new, extremely stretchable material, behaves very realistically, so that perineal protection can be practised optimally. The newborn doll is made of soft plastic, weighs 2.3 kg and is 42 cm tall. The head circumference is 30 cm. The doll can be used to practice the initial examination and suctioning. The very realistic umbilical cord and placenta complete the model. The umbilical cord can be cut and the cut area replaced. In addition to the normal birth process, a breech birth can also be demonstrated.

Episiotomy Module

Interchangeable episiotomy inserts allow teaching and practising of episiotomy suturing. The individual inserts can be reused repeatedly if the sutures are removed carefully.

Postnatal care module

Four different uterus inserts allow for postnatal palpation and measurement. The module includes three normal uteri (first, third and fifth day) and one abnormal uterus (first day). The abdominal wall included features breasts for breast care training.
