The KALOS cough assistant stands out with its high performance and innovative modes for mobilizing tracheobronchial secretions

KALOS is used to mobilize and remove tracheobronchial secretions non-invasively and without the use of suction catheters. This can reduce the risk of infection for the patient. Various setting options and the combination of the FreeAspire and CoughAssist operating modes make the device comfortable to use for the patient. An integrated rechargeable battery provides the option of mains-independent use. The KALOS is used for secretion management in clinical and home care settings, in physiotherapy and respiratory therapy as well as on specialist lung wards and in paediatrics.

Secretions are mobilized by quickly switching from positive to negative pressure, thereby increasing the expiratory flow. Even more efficient secretion mobilization is achieved by optionally activating the vibration mode. Vibration can be switched on in the inspiratory and/or expiratory phase. This enables better and more efficient removal of bronchial secretions and an increase
in the PCF value (peak cough flow).

The operating modes

Free Aspire:

The mode for removing secretions with FREE ASPIRE technology is achieved by simply accelerating the exhalation flow (Venturi principle). This acceleration, which is only active in the exhalation phase, is proportional to the exhalation flow, follows the patient's natural breathing rhythm and requires no assistance from the patient.

Cough Assist:

The Cough Assist technique is based on the application of positive pressure to the patient's airway to assist inhalation, then quickly switching to the application of negative pressure.

Constant pressure:

The constant pressure mode makes it possible to apply a constant pressure to re-expand the lungs before and after treatment with the cough assistant.
